The Natural Line

In 2018, Téa became fascinated by the medium of virtual reality, in particular the implications of fusing art and technology to yield unique creations. These three pieces were shown in a group show at the Wallow Gallery, in Carlton, OR on October 6th, 2018.

Exploring the medium of virtual reality, she discovered that when observing mountains via Google Earth, she could create beautiful forms and lines by purposefully manipulating the program. She recreated these scenes in oil paintings to highlight the clash of traditional mediums with futuristic technology. The weighted mountainous forms appear to float in the sky, connected by sinuous grids. This creates a sense of fluidity across all three of the pieces. Through using virtual reality technology in abstract ways, Téa creates a more concrete image that prompts viewers to question what they are really seeing.
